I gave birth in the middle of summer in our 400 sq. ft. NYC apartment.
After a 19 hour labor, I felt like I was hit by a bus. It really caught me off-guard, even though I’d helped guide hundreds of other women through their birth and recovery journeys. I didn't know where to start and I needed help. I reached out to my friend Jessica.
Jessica—a fellow physical therapist—helped me realize that this was bigger than my own recovery. We started to develop a program for moms based on proven principles from physical therapy. And so Chelsea Method was born in my fifth-floor walkup on 14th Street.
We spent the next year perfecting the program. Our goal was to set a better standard for postpartum care and make it available to moms everywhere. We won't stop until we've delivered on that promise.
