Diastasis Recti (aka Mummy Tummy or Diastasis Recti Abdominis) is a widening of the midline abdominal fascia, or connective tissue, called the linea alba. This connective tissue is a thickening of fascia in the front and middle of the abdominal wall that serves as an anchor for your abdominal muscles. For a better visual - it is the center vertical line of the six-pack muscles. During pregnancy, the abdomen widens creating a tensile stretch on our linea alba, leading to a natural widening. Almost 100% of women will have a diastasis recti during pregnancy with a majority naturally resolving within the first 6 month after having a baby. For mamas that the gap doesn’t close on its own, guided exercises focused on pressure system regulation, recreating fascial tension for force-load transfer and abdominal wall strengthening can be very beneficial.

Chelsea Method will help you identify if you have a diastasis recti and teach you how to monitor for a bulge throughout the program so you can safely rebuild a strong and stable core.
