A woman in Spain, Ivana Moral, recently received a record-breaking divorce settlement of €204,000 (around $215K) for 25 years of unpaid housework from her ex-husband. The judge ruled that Ivana was owed the money for her dedication to the home and family during their marriage when she stepped back to support her husband in growing his business.

The judge calculated the payment based on the minimum monthly professional wage for the years the couple was married and in addition to the payout, Moral’s ex-husband must also pay her a monthly pension to the couple’s two daughters. Moral’s attorney states that the ruling represents the labor of all the women who provide unseen fundamental support to families.
